A couple weeks ago I posted to the Meet & Greet the below post about myself. Since then it seems my blood pressure and psoriasis have both gotten worse. The Taurine/aspirin combo doesn't seem to be having the same positive impact on sleep any more, and actually I have sleeping worse and been waking up more frequently to use the restroom than before. Is there a chance that Taurine is the wrong approach for me? Any tips or insight as to what might be going on would be much appreciated.

Hey there! I am a long time believer that finding the root cause of ailments was a vastly better approach than treating symptoms with various drugs. I had a lot of success with low-carb and intermittent low-carb (specifically Carb-Nite by John Kiefer) about 10 years back. But it was just too difficult to stick with fully. I had tried to go relatively low carb with way too much junk food cheating for many years. Eventually I started to accumulate a bunch of health problems... Low energy, snoring, sleep apnea (wife diagnosed only :P), really bad seasonal allergies, trouble breathing through my nose, fatty liver, cold feet, weight gain, foot fungus, psoriasis, high blood pressure, and hair loss. A functional chiropractor guessed that I was hypothyroid and that was causing a bunch of my issues.

Through that I found Josh at EastWestHealing's youtube page while searching psoriasis hypothyroid. That piqued my interest because I figured that there was a good chance all or most of my issues were related. That led me to eventually find Jay Feldman and Mike Fave's podcast. The first improvements once I started implementing their suggestions was a major improvement in energy levels and easier nose breathing. That led to better sleep and less snoring as well. Unfortunately my Psoriasis actually got worse, and my blood pressure never really changed. I have been sticking with it though because I know all of my problems didn't show up overnight, and the fixes would also take time. When May came around, I kept waiting for my allergies to come and knock me off my feet like they usually do, but they never did!

Overall all I have been feeling amazing. Still struggling with psoriasis and blood pressure though. I recently started taking aspirin and Dr. Bergs D3 mct oil supplement with K2 and vitamin E, but haven't noticed any change with that really. I will probably switch to IdeaLab's K2 supplement when I am out of that to see if it has a more noticeable impact. I also, per @haidut 's suggestion to google "taurine blood pressure" have started taking Taurine about a week ago and switched to taking aspirin at night. It seems to be doing something because I have had some really vivid dreams and wake up with noticeably warm feet and hands. No major impact on blood pressure yet, but I am optimistic.

Excited to continue my journey with a community here on the forum.

God bless!

I always recommend folks with psoriasis to do a GI-MAP stool test. Gut dysbiosis is often a big part of the puzzle that individual supplements won't really do much to address. Plus mineral deficiency and B vitamin inadequacy would need to be evaluated and addressed.

Taurine and aspirin are good compounds but they aren’t going to fix systemic issue. They’re like little boosts to support your health.

How’s your mineral intake? Are you getting sufficient calcium and magnesium through diet?

Exercise routine?

Lastly how are you handling stress?

In my own experience diet is more powerful than supplements, both in terms of what you're eating and what you're not eating. My digestion normalized quickly after stopping eating meat. This is NOT advice you should do the same, but rather to be open to try, try and try some more. It's hard giving advice because I can't possibly know what "blocks of energy" you have. Could be mental, emotional, physical, and all sorts of combinations. Usually skin is associated with the intestines. Even though my digestion is good now, I do believe I have some leakiness still going on, possibly from still eating lots of starches (not sure), but I might also attribute better intestinal health from eating a lot of carbohydrates. It's really hard, but I think you kind of have to make continual changes, sometimes big sometimes small, and be your own "lexicon" of experience with which to go back, reflect on, and make more informed choices. And from feeling stuck for a long time, changing up things can quickly make noticeable differences.

Sorry for going on a tangent there, but I think it's important stuff. I like to have the articles at raypeat.com as a backdrop, and even though I can make some drastic changes, I would probably never start consuming seed oils again or taking supplements with silicon dioxide, etc etc. It kind of steers you away from the worst pitfalls, while also giving you a more holistic view on whatever you're dealing with. Maybe start with the articles regarding leakiness, blood pressure, membranes etc.

And don't forget to listen to your body, we can be harsh on ourselves sometimes, and neglect basic things that we might actually need. Hope I wasn't too esoteric. Wish you the best and recovery

Hi There!
I too am a forum newbie. I am an Idealab customer and that is how I found this forum. I too struggle with high blood pressure, high bad cholesterol, and psoriasis. I am learning so much on this forum! I just order Taurine in the hopes that it will help me. I also have Hypothyroid. Have you read the eating guidelines written by Rinse and RePeat? Once I adopted them, I gradually started losing weight and my blood pressure has been improving.
