I like to dance, and I read an article from RP that said cardio only feels good because it raises body temperature, which makes sense. However, is dance the same thing? I do cardio and I get bored, but I don't get bored dancing and I was wondering if the very nature of it may be anti stress, despite being a lot of exertion? Similar to yoga, perhaps?

Thing is my energy levels are pretty high and I spent 2 hrs training at ground combat last night after a full day at work and then this happened...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22VCUiHkgYI

My housemate does not appreciate it very much. It's happened before too. I just forget that it's midnight and people don't like to listen to me flailing about like an acid dropping octopus in the kitchen to psy trance or house music :S

Was sortof worried I would have insomnia last night as a result but I don't think it was too bad considering my state of mind. I think I got about 6-7 hrs sleep and I'm up again and feeling dandy.

I'm not that concerned about a bit of exertion when I enjoy it so much and it really improves my dexterity/flexibility for mma...but I am interested in any opinions regarding the stress factor of something like this?

Any thoughts?

Here's a more definitive example of what happens, which I posted in my little log thread. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcr-pl5SPNQ (who wouldn't want to go raving with Saunders and Atkinson :geek: ??)

Perhaps it is a lot of dopamine or adrenaline, depending on whether you can actually, for example, stop at will and just focus that energy into pondering new ideas, the world, etc. I know being punched raises stress for sure, dancing could be a good way to let that out.

Yeah, I can stop and focus. I went to bed around midnight and just red American God's until I fell asleep...I find warm sugary milk and gelatin helps to ground me.

If you enjoy dancing, you should explore it more - like the woman who invented prancercise.

Ha! That is like the inside of my head after training! ...well that + Mr Bean cameos! I actually find it harder to just dance to music cause it's on. I prefer to be hyped up first, so I guess that's why training turns me into a ballerina. A very manly ballerina!

grrr

Hehe! I'm so loving this thread.

Lindsay, I had never heard of prancercise before and it's such a shame because I've really been missing out.

Slappy, are you as graceful as this man in the video? Watch how the horses flee as he prances towards them. I think this guy is on to something. Looks like a great way to set fear in your opponents. :D

Seriously though, dancing is the best! I do it everyday. A good song is all I need to get my wiggle on.

Hmm...I Need A Hero is originally from Footloose so I think it's time for some Bacon bits. Let's see what this does to your digestion...https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ltrMfT4Qz5Y

In a recent interview Peat said that the meaning of stress affects it's effects on the cells. You can feel that too. If you love dance, it is likely to improve cellular fucntion as long you have good recovery and aren't forcing too many toxins through the metabolism. It's not that uncommon for a marathoner, a monk or a shaman to live a very long time and I believe it is because they can transmute the stress of cardio, fasting and poisonous substances into something beneficial. Don't try those last two at home though.

I think you can feel your way around this. So dance away.

You can find that statement at the end of Herb Doctors interview titled Field Biology.

Just back from two hour training...making ice cream and goo to try and facepunch my energy levels into the ground.

I had the foresight to dance my last dance earlier...so if anyone likes to finger dance (or arm wiggle...or head sway) these may be for you!

Night time music! More appropriate than psytrance, yes? You should be yawning by now!

Yes perhaps the cell reflects the intention, but you just can't lie to it. I know I've gone whole weeks with a sore neck, human helicopter style. Music what a hobby.
