Neurotransmitter Receptor Sensitivity

There's a lot of talk here about how to deplete or increase certain neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin here, but I don't see much mention of the role of neurotransmitter receptor sensitivity.

I'd like to welcome anyone to share their thoughts and research in the context of aiming to have a higher metabolism.

What do you think is the bigger issue with dopamine? Decreased sensitivity from being chronically overstimulated by instant gratification or decreased brain metabolism and excess serotonin from low thyroid hormone?

Sulbutiamine hasn't been discussed here. It is sometimes used as a method for increasing dopamine receptor sensitivity by first depleting dopamine and causing the brain to increase receptor density in response. Then dopamine levels can be allowed to refill naturally and will have a more potent affect. Has anyone had experience with trying this or a similar method?

That's interesting, sulbutiamine causes me to laugh at very dumb jokes or dumber than usual anyway.
