I found a recipe using chicken broth, powdered milk, and some cornstarch.

Is cornstarch peaty?

If not, what can we sub for it? Masa doesn't seem to thicken liquid like cornstarch. Is there anything else?

Grated potato instead of cornstarch? Wouldn't give exactly the same effect, but would thicken a soup up when it's well cooked?

I have been using tapioca flour when I need to thicken something. Not sure how well it would work for this.
