I use the Carlson Labs Ddrops 4000 IU. The bottle is a little annoying, but the product is good.

It's a kind of slow-release dropper with a plastic plug built in that makes it so it takes 15-20 seconds of holding the thing upside down to release a single drop. It is really annoying!

Any reason you wouldn't use Pure Encapsulations for some of these? E.g., the Jarrow niacinamde has excipiants in it.........is there any reason why I shouldn't just get it from PE? There is nothing added to those.

Calcium

Eggshell Powder is optimal. Looking for a commercial source, please suggest if you know one. Oyster shell is second best.

Does anyone know how much calcium is in a teaspoon of oyster powder?

Here's what Mittir wrote in my log:
Mittir said:
1 tsp of calcium carbonate gives
1200 mg of calcium. RP recommends 1500 mg of calcium for
PTH suppression. You are probably getting enough calcium from
milk and supplement. You also need to make sure your phosphorus
intake is lower than calcium, preferably in 2:1 or
at least 1:1 ratio. calcium:phosphorus.

Okay.....sorry if this is a dumb question, so are you saying Calcium Carbonate IS oyster shell powder?

I just wanted to know if I supplement with oyster shell powder, how much to take. I didn't know if the shell powder was JUST calcium, or if it also has other things in it.

I think Peat has said they are the second cleanest source of calcium cabonate after egg shell powder. I think they are close to 100% calcium carbonate - that's how i 've been counting it. .

For what it's worth, I tried a MCT powder and it gives me bad reactions. I can take MCT in oil form without problems, as long as I don't take too much.

The brand was Nutrabio. It has an additive, which they use to make it into a powder form. My guess is that the additive isn't pure enough.

Forgot to say I think calcium carbonate is about 40% calcium. I often supplement 1/2 tsp per day, which I think adds about 1000mg calcium to my diet. Whether that is enough depends on what other food sources of calcium we are eating - eg how much milk. I'd like to be getting about 2000+mg /day total.

I have oyster shell powder from Pure Bulk that I've yet to begin supplementing with. It's calcium carbonate.
Package says 1/2 tsp is 1715 mg using US Standard measuring spoons.

Damn straight they are
With the proviso that he's a bit cautious about possible issues with isolated amino acids and with contamination in supplements in general. So he sometimes recommends them in limited amounts for limited periods of time for particular purposes, but not generally as indefinite supplements for everyone.
