Yeah...that would be me right now...Sometimes I think I am autistic. My guts are starting to rumble, time for more Benadryl!!!
It's not available in the U.S. I had to order it from an online Mexican pharmacy. I just didn't want you to waste a lot of time searching.

The "IBS" memories I have I now use as a way to date the worst periods of hypothyroidism and vitamin deficiency of my past. You know, I remember coffee and milk used to be the best triggers and ironically having made them the largest part of the diet has banished that illness from my days.

I think it is best for you to discard all the bile on that part of the cycle using the charcoal, and use some parmisan to make a fresh batch. Coffee (at least a spoonful of sugar per serving) with some cascara will prevent "IBS" attacks but will feel too harsh during or in the days after an attack. Serotonin blockers and gelatin are crucial in these stages!

Thanks S_S....it's funny you should mention parmesan, I woke up at 5:30 this morning with gnawing hunger pains, the ONLY thing that sounded good was parmesan. I drank some OJ and had spoonfuls of grated parmesan.

I agree with the charcoal thing too, it works great and my body really feels like it definitely wants the bile OUT.

I am so happy to hear you found permanent relief...Thanks again!

Hi bigpeatowski,

I think food allergies are a SCAM!!!

I totally agree with you. When I was around 17 our family doctor doctor sent me to nearby Boston to one of the alleged "big guns" as an allergy specialist because I was showing signs of allergic eczema, hives and rashes and IBS and I was given all the skin "RAST" tests as they inject different substances and the reactions supposedly indicate allergy and the "treatment" is injections that your own family doctor gives to you and it is supposed to be highly successful. IT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME.

I think that I got a lot of false positives because I am sensitive to metals, and I think that injecting anyone with say any kind of supposed "allergen" extract is not specific enough to zone in on the particular allergen. For example- they say that you are allergic to apples. There is no extract that they can make that can cover all the thousands of apple species as well as the soil they grew in and the pesticides and chemicals used on them. Impossible.

RP says to add one particular item in your diet and track your responses and over time you can see if you are sensitive. Most people are dazzled with the promises of mainstream medicine.

YES, I AGREE WITH YOU- IT'S THE ESTROGEN AND SERATONIN!

MAS...I did the RAST skin tests with a specialist too, he told me I was very allergic to yeasts and molds. I already knew that cuz every time I smell anything mildewy I get a headache, also blue cheeses make me feel vile and so I have avoided them for years. His findings on other key foods were "inconclusive" and so he recommended eliminating foods one by one, which I had already done. Yes, that was another waste of time and money.

I don't know much about the actual route of food sensitivities, but for me it seems like my terrain can change (often quickly) and so formal allergy testing is pretty much useless.

I don't get overt histamine symptoms (other than the blue cheese ick): no rashes, no hives, no sneezing, no itchy watery eyes. None of the classic allergy stuff. I merely get a very mild stuffy nose, so mild that no one else would notice it. Sometimes I don't even notice it. I certainly don't mouth breath or any of that. Next my guts will start to rumble and get loud (people DO notice that), like they are irritated and then usually all hell breaks loose. It doesn't always happen immediately though and it does not matter what have eaten.

What I am experiencing now is ALL ABOUT HORMONES, but I guarantee you my doctor would insist that it is caused by what I am eating. Her perception and therefore understanding is so limited.

I just took 6 tabs of activated charcoal, my next round oughta be BLACK.

Ripped this from Haagendazendiane, who ripped it from Danny Roddy:

Estradiol increases the release of serotonin and histamine from mast cells (Vliagoftis et al. 1992). In an experiment, a relapse of bronchial obstruction during women's menstrual cycle was observed. Incubating blood and rising rates of estrogens produce an increase of histamine release (Terral C, et al., 1981). Antihistamines block estrogen's effects (Szego, 1965; Szego and Davis, 1967).

You peeps already know all this stuff, but it was truly a LIGHT BULB moment for me....I am now fully aware of what was/is actually causing my mystery diarrhea and I know how to deal with it and be properly prepared.

I am a changed person today and SO MUCH better off for it, thanks to you all of who are willing to share your insights...There is nothing more empowering than having a true understanding, even if it is something as petty as intermittent digestive duress.

CASE CLOSED here, but will post future updates in my testimonial log.

I don't think it's really ever petty! Those little things continue to add up and become a vicious cycle if brushed off as nothing, as is often the case in medicine. I respect your perseverance and initiative to get to the bottom of this. If we don't do that for ourselves and try to help one another no one else will. I don't really think anyone else knows actually what to do except for Peat and the people familiar with his work. Curling up in a ball and pretending doesn't work nor does listening to medical authorities. You're well on your way to your best health ever imo. CONGRATULATIONS :partydance :partydance :partydance

Listen to your body when taking the charcoal! I remember taking a little too much one night along with ungrated carrots, and it actually caused massive gas trapping which led to fever with feeling of lactic acid each time my intestine tried to move (as in my typical IBS aftermath).

It's important that it is free to go through cause that stuff really swells up inside you!

TMI ALERT!!!

So I have had IBS symptoms pretty much my whole life. It comes and goes and alternates between constipation and diarrhea. I've learned how to deal with the constipation aspect, so that is no longer an issue. I always thought my symptoms were triggered by certain foods, but could NEVER figure out a pattern. I would leave out whole food groups for months on end trying to find the culprit. I finally figured out that starch was definitely a trigger and so I gave up grains three years ago, but that has not resulted a complete cure. Further elimination of various foods has been a dead end....

I started keeping a detailed log of everything I ingest including supplements and timing and this is what I have noticed: I get diarrhea in the luteal phase of my cycle....especially as I increase the PROGEST-E. It's like my liver is struggling to clear hormones or something....stool becomes BRIGHT YELLOW ACID WATER and can last for days on end  . This is definitely cyclical and seems to be related to increasing progesterone. Anyone else have this? Or recognize a pattern? Or is it related to massive amounts of SEROTONIN somehow???

Despite studying this stuff all day long, I am utterly clueless....any insight would be much appreciated!
I’m sorry to resurrect this thread HOWEVER I’m trying to figure out what the hell is going on with my guts. I believe I have the flu but am also wondering if it’s not just a cold + progest E + period hormones.

I was doing a pretty high dose progest e during luteal phase. Last Monday my four year old got a bad cold. Tuesday I started having horrible horrible diarrhea, and was up all night with a fever of 104 and a deep headache. My baby and two year old were also up all night with sleep regression issues. So I was a total wreck on Wednesday, when I also got my period and cold symptoms on top of fever, diarrhea, headache. “is mommy dying?”

nobody else had flu symptoms, just respiratory infection.

so did I have cold plus GI issues caused by progest E and PMS? Or did I have the flu?
