Peat lives in Eugene, Oregon and in Mexico;
he was born probably in the 1930's and is alive now in 2015;
and he has numerous theories, especially about nutrition--
for instance, he has a theory that PUFA is bad for people.

narouz, are you sure that Ray has never recommended the use of high omega 3 / PUFA food for specific conditions ?

I do remember, Wilfrid,
that in an interview
Peat talked about that Gershon diet (can't remember the exact name/spelling)
and how the high-PUFA oil used in that diet
(one of its variants, anyhow)
could be explained by the interpretation
that it might've been used as an intense laxative.
That is, the patient would drink maybe like 1/2 a cup of PUFA oil,
which would evacuate the digestive tract, cleaning it.
I believe Peat said the PUFA would cause contractions?
Peat said that would make sense in an anti-cancer diet
(or just a general health diet)
because used in that manner
none of the PUFA would be absorbed:
it would just cause the laxative/cleansing action
and the oil would exit the body along with whatever else.

Beyond that...scratchin' my head to think of any other Peat recommendations to eat PUFA...

Hi narouz,

I was thinking about his recommendation to eat ( for people with colitis, crohn's disease, inflammation, collagen diseases ect... ) sardines " as a safe protein source that shouldn't interfere with thyroid function " in his book " Nutrition for women".
He have surely changed his recommendation about it, though.
But at the time of " Nutrition for women" publishing, he was certainly aware that sardines do contains significant amount of omega 3 as well as some interesting level of PUFA. And, still, he thought that this fatty fish was beneficial for people with auto-immune diseases.
As for the Gerson diet, I'm pretty sure that Ray has a profound respect for the man and his therapy ( which did not include any vegetable oil at the time Gerson was still alive.). The problem arised with Gerson's daughter and her followers...

Thanks for that, Wilfrid!
There was a strange (to me) mention of Peat and sardines on the forum
sometime a few months back.
Somebody claimed that Peat,
when traveling in areas where good foods were unavailable,
would carry some tins of sardines with him.

It seem far-fetched and unsubstantiated at the time, but...
maybe there's something to it! :)

I was a big sardine eater before discovering Peat.

The focus on how this place is run has little scope outside of wanting an enjoyable forum to partake in. The thoughts of Ray Peat do not imply a place, or time, or theory. While this may be a forum about Ray Peat, it certainly is not a "Ray Peat Forum". There is not a community as much as there are perpetrators of a misunderstanding.
What there actually is, is a group of organisms (humanity) who are endowed with the ability to make this distinction, and who do so in different amounts. The fact that the choice of doing so might be contagious is another matter.

I'm gonna have to fisk you on this, my friend! :D

If you type Ray Peat Forum into Google you will arrive at
this very Ray Peat Forum.
I consider this proof positive that this is a Ray Peat Forum.

I will agree with you that this forum's membership is composed of human organisms.
But I can't go along with you that those human organisms
make the distinction between
a forum about Ray Peat
or
a "Ray Peat Forum."
See point #2 for elucidation.

I do not agree that it is a "fact"
that us human organisms here on this website
have a choice in distinguishing between this being
a forum about Ray Peat
or
a Ray Peat forum.
There is no distinction.
Therefore there can be no choice available to distinguish such entities,
and there is no contagion because there is no choice to distinguish.
See #3 above for illumination.

In conclusion, I will offer this speculation:
You're stoned!
Again!!
:D

Narouz my friend, I think you're seeing a bit too much (or little?) into this. You also are a great connoisseur of tedious, drawn out debates. Did you by chance frequent a liberal arts institution?

Why, yes, I did!
Remember:
Peat didn't just frequent a liberal arts institution.
He got a Masters degree from one--in English.
And more than once he has noted how that made a deep and positive impact
upon his thinking--
including his scientific thinking. :D

Don't tell me you've been seduced by the "action-oriented" boosterism
of cantstoppeating...!?

See, I just wish I could tie that guy to his chair,
have a drawn-out, tedious debate with him,
and then write some nonsense and drivel about the experience. :)

Thank you, Amazon.
Etymology is cool.
Don't knock it before you try it. :D

Which thread was our friend pboy's post in?
That sounds fun.... :)

So true.
Hopefully he is a forgiving one,
and will overlook my mis-step.

I'll go check into this PUFA Depletion Certification!
