I wont get into it, but the article below says the following:

Byers found the following:
- high doses beta carotene supplements had an increased risk for lung cancer.
- Selenium supplements were associated with skin cancer.
- Men who took vitamin E had an elevated risk for prostate cancer.
- Folic acid, a B vitamin, taken in excess could lead to an increased risk for colon cancer

Now the study involved 12 different trials that involved more than 300,000 people. Here is the link:

Please consider these articles with an open mind. I know Ray Peat has done some genius work but we should still be open to things just in case.

Thanks!

Re: vitamin E, the researchers used alpha tocopherols.

So if you take a vitamin e supp that has mixed tocopherols, which most do, then it's okay and safe.

Peat has never recommended supplementing beta carotene - he sometimes warns against getting excesses of it from vegetables. He does recommend liver for vit-A and sometimes vit-A supplements. He says that because beta carotene is unsaturated, it can have some similar problematic effects to PUFAs.

He recommends eating seafood, not supplements, for selenium.

Where I am, folic acid can only be sold generally in 300mcg doses, and to pregnant women in 800mcg doses (rationale: to reduce risk of neural tube defects, IIRC)
