im glad someone bumped this thread...I don't take aspirin or supplement, so I notice a lot of subtle things. I cant figure out why at random times, palm oil seems to give a unique respiring boost, and lightening feel. Its not the vit A or E cause I get plenty of those. The only thing I could think it might be is coq10, cause I don't eat meat or anything that has it...(milk I guess) but I figured I might be low, especially if I don't consume enough sugar/overall calories for synthesis.

That could explain it, as palm oil has coq10...also has squalene. Maybe I need more calories in general so this wont be necessary...though I only consume rarely, when im feeling it

if only aspirin didn't burn my stomach...I guess im one of the salicylate sensitive. Im quite sensitive to oranges and other fruit also...if I overdo it

Aspirin is currently being researched for its anti-cancer properties, especially in relation to breast and colon cancer. This really surprised me, not because I think aspirin doesn't have amazing properties, but because they are actually researching it. Maybe I am too cynical, but who is to gain from this? Surely saving people isn't a good enough reason...

I fear they will do a bunch of studies with really low doses and decide aspirin has no promise. An interesting study would be one that uses a really high dose like 4g per day. I would be curious to see how this might effect cancer, or some of the degenerative diseases.

Does anybody know of any studies using high doses>

Aspirin in gastrointestinal oncology: new data on an old friend.
Summary:These findings have re-awakened interest in the role of aspirin in the primary prevention of cancer and in the treatment of cancer. Randomized controlled trials are underway to assess the role of aspirin within the treatment algorithms of several solid common cancers.

I don't know about cancer but there is a clinical trial with 1.3g a day (not high dose but much higher than what I have seen in other studies that rarely exceed 325mg) for MS fatigue.
https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT ... in&rank=22
Sadly, if you do a search for aspirin and cancer on the site above you will see that all trials intend to use doses of under 325mg a day. Almost like a concerted effort to underdose the regimens, given that there is a study on aspirin reversing type II diabetes at HUMAN dose 90mg/kg which would equate to an adult taking 6g+ of aspirin per day and in line with Peat's recommendations. It's just beyond me if it is agreed that Type II diabetes would require 6g+ a day why would treating cancer require<325mg a day, given that even modern medicine agrees that cancer is a progression (worsening) of Type II diabetes!
Just mind boggling stupidity...or on purpose...

I had some issues with aspirin a while ago and promptly stopped taking it. I don't think it's for everyone. Looking back having since read Ray's explanations and a bit of other stuff I believe my problems were down to its decoupling action on mitochondria.

I think that I couldn't meet the extra cellular demands for energy on aspirin and began to experience some symptoms consistent with cells dying.

To be clear I don't think this is an indictment of Ray's ideas on the subject, just that some individuals are perhaps sensitive to it.

Spokey, what were those symptoms?

Weakness, pain in muscles and various, very dark urine (like stewed tea). They were somewhat rhabdo like (which makes me suspect the energy thing), or else I've read that aspirin can cause platelet aggregation in some. I've wondered about this for a while.

Edit: It also put my temp up.

Turns out that may have had nothing to do with Aspirin, but some crappy excipients in the brand I was using.

Penny, if you take aspirin, Peat advises to also take K2. It's a good thing that apparently K2 is also good for diabetics. It's good for the pancreas.
MK4 form??
