I dunno about the rest of the world, but here in Canada there's an antacid tablet called TUMS, and the medicinal ingredient in the Regular Strength variety is 500mg Calcium Carbonate. So the reason you get indigestion taking it shortly after a meal is almost definitely neutralized stomach acid. That said, I've considered TUMS as a Calcium supplement, but I haven't given it a shot yet.
