Calcium as found in alternative milks can make green tea helpful in a lot of situations where it would otherwise be estrogenic/anti-thyroid. The astringent effects of green tea will synergize with the calcium instead of causing a stress reaction as it does in some people. Use responsibly

Why not just ordinary milk?

Not saying polyphenols are healthy (perhaps some are), but I think milk is good at nullifying their effects. Coffee tastes amazing with milk, though (that's certainly how I drink it).
