From my understanding the dioxins released from paper mills have gotten better since switching away from chlorine dioxide. But still, if one goes to the EPA website there are a lot of toxics released every second of every day.
The nature here is beautiful and "pristine" but this paper mill is a massive operation that keeps the town afloat. Many are forced to live close to it and when the wind is right you can definitely smell the hydrogen sulfide.
Many elderly people in the area who "seem" ok but I'm sure many that are sick.
How much of a threat is living with 20 minutes of a mill? Looking for detailed answers that I wasn't able to find myself.
I got to thinking more about it ever since the Ohio train derailment.
Thanks!
