Although mainstream information says that Lidocaine may have hepatotoxic effects, studies show that it may have liver protective effects. I recently shared a study here that shows Lidocaine protects liver and kidneys from endotoxin/TLR4.
Here another study shows that Lidocaine protects liver from calcium overload and hypoxia.
[Effect of lidocaine precondition on hepatocytes calcium overload and apoptosis induced by cell hypoxia-reoxygenation]. - PubMed - NCBI
CONCLUSION: Precondition with lidocaine can attenuate calcium overload of hepatocytes induced by hypoxia-reoxygenation in vitro, and decrease the ratio of apoptosis.
