Anyone giving Methylene Blue to someone elderly and can provide feedback? Benefits, issues with taking it, etc?

Well my father was in the TauRX study, which was a does of 120mg(!) a day. He ran into trouble with that dose, an irritated urinary tract which led to an infection. I think it's partly do to the fact that he is usually very dehydrated. I'll give him 1mg once in a while now with no issues.

I tried it on my dad (dementia) at 60mg x 3/day for about a month.
This is very anecdotal and subjective,
but I felt like I noticed a worsening.
Coulda been anything...so I wouldn't put much stock in this.
So, I stopped that
and have been giving him micro-doses like I've been taking,
two or three times per day.
Hasn't really been long enough for me to form an appraisal.

[ref]bradley[/ref], man thats a huge dose!

[ref]narouz[/ref], I would think smaller is the way to go. I could not imagine myself taking 60 mgs.

Yeah, I know.
But the main study we've been looking at on MB for dementia (on one the MB threads),
the protocol was 60mg x 3.
They tried higher and lower dosages (none lower than 30mg or 15mg, maybe),
but the 60mg dose was the one that clearly yielded the best results....

I started giving my 13 yo dog a drop by mouth of the lowest dilution a couple of times per week for skin/yeast issues. It's definitely helping the yeast but I also noticed that his leg tremors have stopped. He used to mild tremor In his front two legs at rest. I noticed that these are gone. Could be a coincidence but I haven't changed anything else.

I don't understand how it works,
but I was thinking about it like what is apparently the case with Ritalin and other drugs for ADD/ADHD.
If somebody with those "learning disabilities" takes a dose of Ritalin,
their body reacts to it, it would seem, very differently from a "normal" person.
As I understand it,
the ADD person wouldn't feel like he/she is on a speed trip,
whereas a regular person would, very much so.

So...I figured maybe people with dementia react differently than non-dementia people to high doses of MB.
As I say,
the best results in the study did come with the 60mg doses.
Yes, I too was nervous about giving my dad that, but....

For myself, I do the microgram dosages.
But I would note
that when I tried doses going up to around 5mg,
I didn't feel much of anything.
I don't mean that to sound like a methylene blue libertine.

I've invented a new drink. For a while I was putting a tablespoon of glycine in my seltzer water, today I added a gram of aspirin, a gram of vitamin c, and five milligrams MB. Pretty good. I got really warm but nothing turned blue.
