Our municipal water is going from a pH of 7.8 to 8.8 to "protect our customers from the risk of lead-containing household pipes and plumbing"

Once it has been stored for a long time, nearly spoiled. Fresh egg white is nearly neutral.
? It says exactly what i said.
It's been said the protective coating begins to degrade after 96 hours. What sources support/show longer viability?I guess I'm not looking at fresh eggs, and thinking more along the line of super market eggs.
But farm fresh eggs that still have a coating on them, can stay good for months.
wonder what they use on the water?
I've drank ( very ) diluted bleach before and it had a calming effect. I think its been recommend in case of natural disaster to clean water. However, not sure of the pH and how it compares to 8.8. I'm glad theyre worried about old pipes leeching and doing something about it until they replace the pipes.sodium hydroxide
