I've noticed after I do a set of squats, my frequency of breaths increases, which indicates to me an increase in CO2 in the body. I notice also that very shortly after the set is complete, a tightness in the muscles that I have just exercise develops, which if I understand correctly is a buildup of lactic acid.
1. How is it that there is an increase in CO2 in my body and yet a lactic buildup localized to the muscle that I have just exercised?
2. Why is lactic acid building up there?
3. Shouldn't the muscle be releasing CO2 instead?
4. Is this buildup of lactic acid a sign of less-than-perfect health?
5. If I had better health would no lactic acid be produced in the muscle?
