Hello -
After years of running, low carb and low sugar eating with lots of green smoothies.... I came across Ray Peat. Below are initial labs, labs following high dose niacin to lower cholesterol, and labs after 5-6 weeks of NDT. The initial 5-6 weeks of diligent Peating (OJ, milk, collagen, sugar, coffee, aspirin, EstroBan) the labs show TSH and cholesterol not moving as anticipated - lowering TSH is not lowering cholesterol. Pulse is up (high 70s low 80s) and temps are up from 97.3-97.5 to 97.5-97.8. Welcome any thoughts/comments/recommendations.
July 21, 2016 - INITIAL Labs
Total Cholesterol=268 mg/dL
HDL=48 mg/dL
Trig=132 mg/dL
LDL=194 mg/dL
T3 Uptake=32
T4 (Throxine) Total=8.5mcg/dL
Free T4 Index (T7)=2.7
TSH=3.9 mIU/L
T3 Reverse, LC/MS/MS=20
T3 Total=104
T4 Free=1.3
September 9, 2016 - Labs Following 2-3 grams of niacin per day for 5-6 weeks
Total Cholesterol=207 mg/dL
HDL=54 mg/dL
Trig=64 mg/dL
LDL=140 mg/dL
TSH = 3.5 mIU/L
November 2, 2016 - Labs following 5-6 weeks of NDT with last 2 weeks 2.0-2.5 grains per day and No Niacin. Labs pulled 6 hours after last dose of NDT.
Total Cholesterol=275
HDL=34
Trig=204
LDL=200
T3 Uptake=33 (22-25%)
T4 (Throxine) Total=7.3 (4.5-12)
Free T4 Index (T7)=2.4 (1.4-3.8)
TSH=1.87 mIU/L (0.40-4.50)
T3 Reverse, LC/MS/MS=11 ng/dL (8-25)
T3 Total=123 ng/dL (76-181)
T4 Free=1.1 ng/dL (0.8-1.8)
T3, Free=4 ng/dL (2.3-4.2)
THYROGLOBULIN ANTIBODIES=3 IU/mL (<1)
THYROID PEROXIDASE ANTIBODIES=367 (<9)
This week I am starting 3 grains NDT a day (1 grain 3 times a day) as I try to increase temps. Peat does not recommend niacin... it did lower my cholesterol - I am planning to reintroduce it for the next 5-6 weeks and then run cholesterol and thyroid labs again. Welcome any thoughts/comments/recommendations.
Thanks,
Rob
