It's important to remember that seratonin is not bad in and of itself. Everything in your body has a purpose and function. Seratonin is important for digestion, brain processes, etc. The problems with seratonin comes from its excess, formed from high stress diets and inflammation. This is the component of serotonin that is the focus of peats work and is not meant to eliminate the molecule, only to restrain it. Dr Ray advises eating lots of fruit in part because it's low in tryptophan and serotonin, thus keeping it at optimal (low) levels but still supplying enough to sustain life.
