Look what "utilaman" says about Chrohns/Proctitis:
Having had a bowel movement in over a week? - Crohn's Disease / Ulcerative Colitis - MedHelp
So utilaman and the other article posted above are in agreement that it can take 6 months to turn this deficiency around. Which makes sense because it took a long time to get in this deficient predicament. Although I think some will see results much sooner.
Source(he is the second reply down):You have Chron's ?
You need to buy Magnesium tablets 250mg and take at least 3 per day....One after each meal and when you start going diahrea just cut back down to 2 or 1 tablet per day. Next add Niacin and fish pills and WALK because walking, niacin, and magnesium have cured my Proctitis. And Proctitis is the same as Chrons in the rectal area..
Magnesium and Niacin are like wonder drugs when it comes to IBD. Just give them 6 months and a year to really start enjoying life again.
Check this from Merck on Niacin DEFICIENCY and GI tract in Chrons and UC I guess.....

Niacin - Nutritional Disorders - Merck Manuals Professional Edition
GI symptoms early in the deficiency include burning in the pharynx and esophagus and abdominal discomfort and distention. Constipation is common. Later, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea may occur. Diarrhea is often bloody because of bowel hyperemia and ulceration.
