What Is Probably Safer? Stove Cooking With Steel Or Ceramic?

I sometimes cook with steel and feel like I can taste the iron - even if I just boil water in steel it tastes weird to me. So I have been using ceramic, but I am worried about lead, or other things in the paint getting into the food.

Anyone have an opinion on which is probably safer?

Usually its easier to get a lead intoxication than iron intoxication. If you don't know the ceramic materials steel is probably better.
Just use milk or another iron antagonist to prevent damage until you get a safe pan. Do you know if the steel pan is magnetic or not?

No idea about the magnetic - would a magnetic or not magnetic be better?
