FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) this fall.

I plan to have my cell phone turned off on Oct 4th during the test. I do not see a downside to not participating in a test.

Does anyone have any thoughts one way or the other?

I'm turning everything off too.

My thoughts are that it has to do with CBDC wallets. They have to sell it like it's a good thing. "We want to make sure you have some money in these troubling times."

That is the big unknown. I try to sidestep the issue by weighing the benefits against the burdens. Here the burden of turning off and on my phone is not significant. The added burden of being temporally out of communication with family, friends and my government is not very great either. It may be comforting a some level to know that my phone is connected to the governmental borg ( think Star Trek). But remember, the islanders on Maui were also assured they had the most advanced alert system and their local government simply did not turn the alert system on to warn them. Did participating in a local drill do them any good?

As for the benefits, they could be insignificant as well. For me, there is the benefit of knowing that whether the conspiracy theorists are right or wrong that I have done my best by simply not participating. It worked for me with regard to governmental warning about covid. I did not participate and take an unnecessary the jab. If they catch me, they may send to to disobedience school.

The point of this thread is to remind others the FEMA notice is for the Oct 4th event. I was posted on Aug 3rd and many have forgotten about it and some may not have even seen it before viewing this thread. Technically the government has provided notice that the event will happen. Reminding people that they can choose not to participate is not 'fear porn'.

I expect it to be uneventful; especially for my phone which will be off. I wonder how many other countries are conducting national drills. Without getting to over the top, I am thinking that this may be one small step towards the WEFs globalization schemes.

I think they are checking to see who has a smart phone and who doesn't. My dumb phone was off on the day.

Thanks for this. This darn thing happened to me in Italy today. I hadn’t known when they were planning to do it here but I now disabled it. Wondering what mischief will lead to them activating this thing. On one hand I do wonder if I should allow myself to get it to warn me of them causing mischief…

Independent nations are conducting this drill and perhaps probing our phones. To find out if we have have a smart phone as @Peatress suggested. Or perhaps they are part of a plan for the CBDC wallets as @Regina suggested. These drills may be just a small part of a much larger plan. Who knows?
