Hi Everyone,

I’m a 28 year old guy and I would seriously appreciate any advise on some serious issues I’m dealing with at the moment mainly very low libido and lack of morning wood / nocturnal erections.

I’ve never taken any 5ar inhibitors or antidepressants like Fin or SSRIs but feeling the similar symptoms of complete libido loss causing a constant coldness feeling in the glans of the penis.

I weight train and do cardio 4 -5 days a week and my diet is pretty clean. I avoid PUFAs, eat a lot of fruits and raw honey, beef, chicken, eggs, kefir and potatoes. I don’t smoke and very rarely drink alcohol.

This seemed to begin in late October 2023 just under 6 months ago and followed a big binge of porn watching which feels like it caused this crash. Prior to this I had no serious issues with sex (just some mild PE at times), and a very high libido and was watching porn and masturbating maybe 2 or 3 days a week when my girlfriend was not around. Day after this crash I got an erection with gf no problem but went soft after a couple mins so I immediately panicked and went full nofap and quit watching porn and masturbating altogether, just focusing on sex only.

Following this my libido dropped to nearly zero. I could still get erect for sex but with a much weaker erection and catastrophic full blow premature ejaculation like uncontrollable after one thrust. I know about the “nofap flatline” but to be still in this state after nearly 6 months is frustrating and I never had any serious porn induced erectile dysfunction issues like you see with guys who escalate to extreme content. For me it was mostly vanilla and not that frequent but I did edge a good bit.

Along with this I’ve also developed middle insomnia, a sleep pattern of waking prematurely usually after 4 – 5 hours sleep and not being able to fall back asleep after. It’s like my brain pulls me awake just before that transition to REM sleep in the later hours of the night where nocturnal erections usually occur.

This is causing me considerable stress / anxiety / depression which is definitely not helping the issue.

Got some basic blood tests done and GP and Urologist both said were normal and issue was all psychological.

I believe it may be a factor but not the direct cause of my issue. I’ve a great relationship with my girlfriend and performance anxiety with her is not the reason.

It feels like a dopamine / hormonal issue that I badly need to fix and I’m especially concerned about penile health due to lack of nocturnal erections, I try to get an erection at least once a day and try sex maybe twice a week to keep it healthy but some days I’m too stressed and miss out on it.

Any advise on what I should get checked in bloodwork would be greatly appreciated or anybody with info on successes from a similar situation would mean the world.

Appreciate it everyone!

So from what I gather I should test for Total T, Free T, Estradiol, SHBG, FSH, LH, IGF1, Progesterone, Prolactin and Cortisol.
Is there anything else I should look into besides these?

Again, any advise is greatly appreciated guys

If it helps I am 40 and I have night erections, morning wood, plenty erection stamina. Probably best I have been in at least 10 years. Unbelievable amount better than when drinking lots of the best milk and liver and orange juice. Currently eating plenty well cooked brown rice, 15% fat beef steak mince, apples, banana, some other fruit. I avoid acrylamide formation in all cooking. I eat/ drink nothing else. No supplements hormones or drugs.

Following I would strongly suspect eggs and kefir are problematic. You could try eliminating them and I bet things would improve so long as you increase the beef and potatoes or eat say well cooked brown rice to compensate.

Also watch how you overtrain and basically just exhaust your body with cardio and weight training.

Fear of not performing could be a factor. Perhaps give your girlfriend a good massage beforehand so that she wins whether you perform or not. That could take the pressure off you.

Will definitely increase the beef intake and try beef liver. Will increase orange juice also.
I'm interested in how eggs could be problematic, always believed they were the best food one could eat for all things health..
In regards to overtraining definitely not an issue for me I've not been as active recently due to the sleep problem and a slight knee injury.

Hell no I wouldn't eat beef liver.

Basically vitamin a causes a lot of problems like this.

Kefir probably has even worse vitamin a effects than milk due to the fermentation ( same goes for fermented cod liver oil).

Eggs are a very common allergy, constipator and relatively high in vit a.

Yeah this is the best I can do at the moment and she's understanding. I do suffer with OCD and sex causes massive obsessions with performance, erection quality and so on, so this is a factor.
However I reckon something else most likely root cause of my low libido and loss of nocturnal erections though

I'll try reducing the vitamin A intake and see what happens. Been eating eggs for years and can't think of anything recent in the diet that may have caused this.
Doing the blood work this week hopefully I can identify something to fix

The idea is things can be fine while a toxin builds up and then suddenly: problem, like a balloon busting. You could also have depleted some other nutrient.

I think there's something to the whole ejaculation heavily depleting zinc. Hopefully not speaking too soon here but since upping my beef and zinc the past month or so i've noticed a pretty big improvement in POIS. I know this is quite a bit different to your symptoms but may be linked, we all know how important zinc is.. Might be worth a try, i've been taking the zinc picolinate as recommended by Garrett Smith. I believe hes found most other forms to be pretty useless in his testing and only recommends this form.

That’s great, and I’m glad you are reporting your progress here. I recommend oysters as they have good zinc, copper, selenium (some iron too).

I would get some lab tests to rule out hyperprolactinemia.

Hey there,
Imo, there are very good remarks above: do *not eat liver, stop eating eggs, both are full of toxins/vitA, take some zinc piccolinate (30mg/day), massage with your girlfriend to destress you. All good stuff.

There are stories of people treated with accutane (high doses of vitamin A) who developed ED. People treated with accutane are strongly deficient in zinc.

However, given what you mention (quoted above) I would be surprised if there was no (strong) psychological factor in play. I mean, you are only 28.
Can zinc depletion or high toxemia cause ED at your age? Sounds unlikely... but who knows.

I will venture a question: why do porn when you have a girlfriend?
No judgment here of course, it's just that it is weird to me why one would do that (unless your relationship is nearing the end..)

check hba1c, anything glycemia related, chronically elevated blood sugar will compromise this.

Thanks for all the responses guys I really appreciate it.

I will up my beef intake to daily and eliminate the eggs for a while. I love oysters so I'll start eating them a lot more also.
Any other seafoods to recommend? I eat prawns often could up their intake too..

I've wanted to try supplementing zinc piccolinate but concerned about causing potential copper deficiency..

Blood panel for hormones done this morning, will report back with results soon and hopefully I can learn more.

Honestly the absolute biggest regret of my life this.
Ironically before this I had very high libido so I'd dabble with a bit of porn when my girl wasn't around for bit of release.
Thought it might have helped with the mild PE as well..
Feel immense guilt for it now as I love my girl and the relationship is great.
Will never be returning to it again that's for sure.

raw garlic

I PROMISE YOU. THIS WORKS.
I've heard great things about this for a host of issues, due to the Allicin content I believe.
Will start adding some raw to my beef and potato meals.

Hi Guys

Bloodwork results are in:

FSH 6.1 U/l
LH 3.2 U/l
Prolactin 110 MlU/l
Testosterone 15.7 nmol/l
Free T 0.304 nmol/l
SHBG 34.30 nmol/l
Estradiol 142 pmol/l
Albumin 46.7 gl

All were marked as being in the optimal ranges but could there still be an imbalance causing this issue for me?

Would really appreciate any advise on where to go from here thanks again guys

My reference range for total testosterone begins at 300 ng/dl and goes up to 850 ng/dl. Know one russian lab that has its reference range up to 1100 ng/dl.

Your converted values are ~450 ng/dl, so it’s low-ish.

LH could be higher too imo.

Hows your thyroid function? Do you eat a nutrient dense diet?
